Auto transport FAQ #1: Where will my vehicle be picked up and dropped off?

American Auto Movers always delivers door-to-door transport. In some cases where the truck driver is not able to make it to your door in order to pick up or drop off the vehicle you may be asked by the driver to meet him in a mutually convenient parking lot. In most cases it is a local supermarket or strip mall that the driver can easily find and load/unload your vehicle.

Auto transport FAQ #3: How far in advance should I call American Auto Movers to schedule the transport?

The majority of our clients who ask this auto transport question schedule the transport of their vehicle for ASAP pickup. While it is possible to have your vehicle picked up the same day you call us, we recommend that our clients give us approximately 5 - 8 days advance notice. While the majority of our vehicles are scheduled for pickup shortly after the order for transport is placed, planning ahead allows us more time to coordinate your vehicle being transported.

Auto transport FAQ #4: Can I have the driver pickup or drop off my vehicle without me present?

We try to keep each customer well informed during the entire shipping process. We instruct the drivers to call the customer prior to pick up or delivery to establish a more accurate estimated time of arrival and to work out specific directions. In addition to your contact with your driver, you can always call your customer service representative who arranged everything to assist you with getting in touch with your driver directly or for any other auto transport questions. If for whatever reason you are not able to be there for the pick-up or drop off of your car, please inform the driver so he is aware he is able to release the car to the designated individual you have chosen.

Auto transport FAQ #5: Can I pack things in my vehicle during transport?

The Department of Transportation prohibits the transport of household items in vehicles being moved by auto carriers. If you have personal (non-household items) that you planned on storing in the vehicle during transport speak with your customer service representative to clarify what you planned to leave in the vehicle. Be aware that all items left in the vehicle are not covered under the driver's insurance policy. You should also be aware that under no circumstances are you allowed to transport any illegal substances, firearms/illegal weapons or hazardous materials.

Auto transport FAQ #6: Can I have my car picked up the same day that I call?

In the event that you must have your vehicle picked up right away this service is possible. The additional costs for this vary depending on the distance you need your car to be moved. Please speak with your customer services representative and let them know you would like to have your vehicle picked up today.
